Indie Writers and Publishers

Currently the Rogue Writers have five participants: Colleen Heinrich, Raquel Garcia, Moira Thompson, Martha Nitz and Gerhard Winkler.
For thirteen years the Rogue Writers have been meeting every Tuesday at seven-thirty half way up Grouse Mountain, to read and critique our work, to offer encouragement and to catch up on what is new in our lives.
I consider it a privilege and good fortune to be a member of this group, so unique and close to each other.
We collectively drank gallons of coffee, mountain berry tea, and unknown quantities of wine and sparkling liquids. Some of us got married, divorced, became grand and great grand parents, and one of our members even passed away. Perhaps that is the only way out of the group once you have really become a member. Many joined but only the hardiest survived for any length of time.
We celebrated our awards and successful publications, and laughed at the rejections.
Every week before we depart, we select 10 words, plus a bonus one, including a number and a colour. When the next meeting comes along, we read our stories, inspired by those ten words. Anybody not having a script must donate two dollars into our joint account.

In 2004 the group published a book: "ten years of tuesdays", starting our own publishing group, Rogue Literary Press. The book is a reflection of our work, containing essays, short stories, even some poetry.
